Product Notes

  • Please note that because the low resolution version is designed to be used for distance renders, it does not include any of the face morphs (or an inner mouth for that matter).
  • Power Pixie is actually based on a higher resolution mesh then the original daz/3d universe pixie. The body has been subdivided a second time, and the mesh has twice the number of polys now. The UVs were resaved, so the original textures and templates will still work.
  • Basic stuff you need to know about Power Pixie:
    • There are many Full Body Morphs in the body portion. Most morphs work best at “1”. but some and many can be set higher, and work well together. Most of the major character changes toy will make will start here. Select the body part, and then make your main character settings. Then go in, and tweak the head or additional body morphs as needed. If you mess things up, you can always reload the character, or apply the default morph pose supplied.
    • Some of the Morph Poses translate body parts…if something seems amiss, that is the most likely culprit. In addition, using some morphs will require you to translate body parts… With some head morphs, you may need to translate the feeler1 parts, and the ear1 parts, with some chest morphs, you may need to translate the wings back further, and with some hip morphs, you may need to translate the tail back as well.
    • Also, you will find a FBM for round eyes. The original eye mesh was out of round, and caused some problems with posing the eyes. This will help correct this problem. There is also a “round face forward” FBM… This stretches the face so it is not as flat. Because the eye holes are also stretched, the morph also stretches the eyes out of round as well. Eye positioning and texturing are affected by this morph.
    • In the Body section, you will see a “Arnoldette Fix” FBM… apply the Arnold muscular morph, and the female large breast morph, and then the arnoldette fix morph to make these work together, for a muscular female figure.
    • Select the feeler ends, and you will also find a number of morph there for various feeler types. There is also a morph in the left and right ear1 parts, for a longer ear lobe.
    • For the tail morphs, you should use the FBMs provided. The “Tail Fix” morph in the hips conforms the hip geometry to allow for a smooth transition in using the tail morphs. There is also a “no tail” morph to close up the gap if the tail in made invisible. This may not work with some other hip morphs.
    • Using the Bonus Superdeformed Mor Pose not only scales limbs, but also changes some of the joint parameters. Rather the using the default morpose to restore the body, instead reload the figure. Also, in the body, you'll find a “long fingers” morph… you can dial this negative, and this offer a better appearance with some superdeformed morphs. In addition, all the Full Body Morphs work quite well with the superdeformed morph, for VERY interesting characters. There is some joint distortion associated with the superdeformed morph, and it is not perfected, but it was just too fun to not include. If I can correct these problems, there will be an update to this.
    • You will find MOR poses for No Ear, No Antenna, and No Nose, and No Tail. These can be turned back on with the corresponding pose. These not only make the specific body part invisible, but they also activate an appropriate morph, to close up the resulting holes. In Most cases, these work fine, but if you apply a morph in those target areas that distorts that area, you may need to clean things up in post. The no ear and no antenna morphs are specific to the original head shape, with no morphs applied. There is a specific morph for the brainiac head morph to close up the holes, but it only works ideally if the brainiac morph is set at “1” anything beyond that, and you will get a hole or overlapping around the ear areas.
    • Many people asked me how I got specific color changes to the character, without using new texture maps. Mainly, I would select a color change with specularity, and then apply additional colored lighting to supplement that illusion. * Some of the morphs can be set far above or below the “1” setting. Experiment, and also try some dials negative as well, for additional changes.
    • The Pixie has parented parts for his ears and antenna, a little different then some characters. Some morphs are extreme in change, and it will look like the ears or antenna are broken, or distorted. To correct this, use the main part connected to the head for either the antenna or ears, and use the translate dials until it looks correct. Duplicate this same setting with the opposite parts.
    • A number of new materials are now available to add additional versatility to the Pixie. The Feeler ends, and back wing muscles are now a separate materials, and can be tinted with material changes, or even be made invisible, which comes in handy, if you are not using the wings, on the wing muscles. In addition, the head is now also a separate material, and you can now use a higher resolution map on it for more detail.
    • You will find a number of “Beard” morphs on the head… you can use these to distort the jaw, but you can also select a Morph pose to not only set the various “beards” but also to load one of the beard textures on the head.
    • You will find a number of “spot” eye textures… these will give you the same eye “look” the Pixie had in his original images. In addition, using them, and changing the specularity and diffuse colors can give you different colored “spot” eyes! Plus, the spots, of course, are dialable, just like a normal eye. * Included, you will also find a female body texture… this will add eyelashes, eyebrows, and female face makeup.
  • Tips:
    • Setting bump mapping over .03 will give you distortions on the head material.
    • I noticed that the wings can be scaled “x” or “Y”for very long or short wings! There is some oddity though, that makes the left wing look distorted when translating it too far “X”. Try the wing's “twist” dial,.. it seems to correct that oddity.
    • You can use the “graybeard” head texture, and tint the gray to whatever color you choose in the paint application of your choice.
    • There is one thing I have not been able to address, and that is when you load the head beard mat texture gold, the map does not show up in the preview, even though it is there. rendering is fine, but the head material does not show. I recommend using a different beard texture until your final render, and then just switch to the gold beard mat file.
  • Note to P4 users:

Poser 4 users will need to convert several bump maps from .jpg files to use the P4 files properly.
