You can assign the “model” texture to be the fur's own texture too.
Follow these steps:
Load the mil dog.
Load the texture you need.
Load the real fur. (I would also take the fur count down to a low level, so that the texture matching process goes faster.)
In the instances tab, select “Model” under Millennium Dog.
Go to the texture room.
In the shading domains section on the right side, double click “skin 1” to open it.
In the window that popped up, right click on the texture ball and choose “copy”.
In the instances tab, select “Millennium Dog Fur”.
In the shading domains section again, double click “Shader 1”.
In the window that popped up, select “root color” in the drop down menu, and right click on the texture ball, choose “paste”.
Repeat this step with the “tip color”.
