image_medium.jpg

Product: DAZ Script Development Kit
Cycle: Public Release
Build: 3.0
Version Released: June 12, 2009

Product Notes and Known Issues
The DAZ Script Development Kit consists of the scripting API documentation, the samples included with the documentation, supporting binaries for use with the 3Delight rendering engine, the DAZ Script IDE plugin and the RSL Shader Compiler plugin. A “DAZ Script IDE ” action is added to the “View > Tabs” menu, in the main menu bar. Clicking the menu item will toggle the display of a tab titled “DAZ Script IDE” - allowing you to author/edit DAZ Script files directly in DAZ Studio. If clicking the menu item for the first time, the tab will appear in a floating pane group. This tab and pane group are standard, and can be docked or regrouped according to standard functionality of the DAZ Studio interface. In the Help toolbar, near the top right of the DAZ Studio interface, you will find a “What's This?” button. This button is used to provide interactive help for elements of the DAZ Studio interface. Simply clicking the button, or pressing the keyboard shortcut (default : Shift + F1), will put you in “What's This?” mode, changing the cursor to an arrow and question mark, at which point you can click on a widget within the interface to show a brief (and sometimes, not so brief) description on the purpose of the widget and perhaps some supporting information - if a description for the widget has been provided. The “What's This?” feature is standard in DAZ Studio.A “Compile RenderMan Shaders…” action is added, to the Surfaces tab Option Menu. Clicking the menu item will open a dialog - allowing you to choose the shaders to be compiled. In the lower left corner of the dialog you will find a “What's This?” button. This button is used to provide interactive help for the dialog. Simply clicking the button will put you in “What's This?” mode, changing the cursor to an arrow and question mark, at which point you can click on a widget within the dialog to show a brief (and sometimes, not so brief) description on the purpose of the widget and perhaps some supporting information - if a description for the widget has been provided. The “What's This?” feature is standard in DAZ Studio. Please note that we also offer the Developer Discussion forum on our site for 3rd party developers to seek advice and/or help on their projects.
