One part of creating artwork is to know how to wield the tool. Another, equally important part is composition: how the elements are arranged within the frame. A good start is to adhere to the Golden Rules of Composition. This free product offers masks that can be put in front of the Bryce camera to help arranging the elements and bring the important part into focus. It is also possible to “bolt” more than one mask to the camera. For the final render, the helper can be removed or made invisible.
For DAZ Studio, there is the Free Golden Rules Camera Prop by Jaderail. Jaderail not only inspired us to offer something similar for Bryce, he also actively helped by supplying most of the rules.
There is the Fibonacci Spiral in all eight possible orientations, the Fibonacci Rectangles, the Wide and Narrow Diagonal, the Rule of Thirds, The Golden Ratio, the Golden Triangles, in total 20 helper masks in an Objects Library. A .PDF document explains how the masks are used and how they can be rotated and resized to fit the artwork, the document size and aspect ratio. Included is also a video that demonstrates the usage of these tools step-by-step. A second video by David Brinnen shows the composition helpers at work in a real scene.
