Journal date: 14 Newseed, year 143 of the Anarian Dynasty
I have been slowly following a specimen of the creature known as the Dracolossus. He is a magnificent creature, perhaps a hundred and fifteen feet long and two hundred and eighty tons. As of this writing, I have gained evidence that the creature is, as was assumed, an omnivore. It consumes massive amounts of vegetation throughout the day, and appears to purposely snack on those trees that have living creatures in them. I have also seen it scavenge, and devour the corpse of a herdbeast that had fallen to some unknown hunting beast, whose feasting was interrupted by the sounds of the Dracolossus's heavy tread.
Whereas the plates on the back are mostly bone, it is known that the scutes and scales of the Dracolossus are more like those of a lizard. Unlike snakes, they do not shed their skin, instead old scales and such simply fall off, the massive vibrations of the creature's movements shaking them loose.
As I have seen all that I can, I shall attempt to move closer to the creature. This journal and all my equipment shall remain here, as unencumbered I can move more swiftly and more stealthily.
