Since nobody is perfect, or nobody has a perfect tan, tan lines will allow you to add various patterns of tan lines to Genesis 3 figures using Genesis 3 Base Female or Victoria 7 UV sets.

You will find several bikinis, from the tiny to the large, with or without straps, a monokini, a few Tee Shirts and a pair of short.

The strength of the tan lines can be linearly controlled using a single dial accessible either in the surfaces tab editor, or via a dedicated interface. This way you can vary from just noticeable tan lines, to medium tan lines, or to strongly visible tan lines using a single dial.

Tan lines is an Iray product and requires Wet And Tanned Skins For Genesis 3 to work.

Below is a list of the installation package types provided by this product. The name of each package contains a Package Qualifier, which is used as a key to indicate something about the contents of that package.

• Tan Lines is an Add-on for Wet and Tanned skins for Genesis 3.
  • In order to use the tan lines, you must FIRST have applied on the figure one of the main Apply file of the Wet And Tanned Skins For Genesis 3 (and eventually customized wet, tan and bump options).
  • Then you simply have to select your Genesis 3 figure and double click any of the tan lines presets provided.
  • After you have applied a tan line, changing the tan, bump, and wet options using Wet and Tanned Skins For Genesis 3 options will not remove the tan line.
  • If you want to remove the tan line, whatever the figure or the tan line, use the “G3TL !Remove Tan Lines” file.
  • The tan lines are dependant on the UV set used, so if, for instance, you are using a Victoria 7 UV set, then choose the tan line with Victoria 7 in the name of the file.
  • You can try and use the tan lines on other characters that are not supported by the provided UV sets. Sometimes it will work fine but sometimes it will not, depending on the differences in the UV sets and the tan line options chosen.

• TWO IMPORTANT NOTES:
  • First:
    • The tan line strength dial allows you to apply a tan line strength of 1. But this is absolutely NOT the recommended value. Indeed, the tan line is in fact subtracted from the saturation which was initially added by the Wet And Tanned Skins shader (in order to come back to a less saturated - more pale - skin).
    • This is why, the Tan line strength SHOULD NEVER BE SET HIGHER THAN the Saturation dial of the skin (otherwise you will de-saturate the Base Color map).
    • In order to know what is the maximum recommended limit for the tan line strength you can simply select the torso surface and find in the surface editor the value of “03. Saturation Change Strength” dial (under HSV management), or you can use the G3TL !!Tan Line Strength Manager which will tell you the maximum recommended value for the tan lines - and allow you to dial the tan line strength.
    • It is anyway recommended to stay a bit bellow this maximum value.
    • IF you set the value of the Tan Line Strength to the exact value of the “03. Saturation Change Strength”, then the resulting color of the not tanned part of the skin will correspond to the color you would have with the preset numbered 01 of the family of skin you have chosen for the tan (options A, B, C…Q) in the Tan Options folder of the Wet And Tanned Skins product.
  • Second:
    • The tan line effect will globally look better with the Thin film Option OFF option (located in Tan Options Folder of the Wet And Tanned Skins For Genesis 3 Product). The reason why is that using thin film ON is here to contribute to a more brown tone for tanned skins, and is more adapted to tanned skins than to clear skins. The pale skin using Thin Film ON looks a bit less natural than the ones with the thin film OFF.
    • For users of Genitalia, no specific preset has been included so far. Yet you can use the transfer tool provided in the Wet And Tanned Skins to copy skins settings on the Genitalia, but for these surfaces you will have to remove the image map of the Tan Line dial in the surfaces editor tab, (and if necessary set the strength of the tan line to 0 if you want to remain tanned on this area).
    • Some of the presets will be fine this way (all the ones larger than the genitalia area), other not (the ones for which the initial tan line is not covering totally the genitalia area).
