About 270 million years ago during the Permian Period, the Earth’s land was connected together into the massive continent of Pangaea. Dimetrodon flourished for millions of years as a nearly ten foot long predator, among the largest of the time. Not a dinosaur, this creature is more closely related to mammals then reptiles and is considered a Pelycosaur. The name Dimetrodon means 'two-types of teeth’; this is because it had two different types of teeth. It is believed to have moved in a manner similar to modern lizards. The grand sail on the creatures back is believed to have been used to regulate body temperature and possibly able to change colors during mating rituals. This original figure was made to be at home in realistic prehistoric settings and fantasy work. It includes several morphs to change the head into a more dragon-like fantasy creature. The custom mesh was designed to allow natural movement. The super hi res texture/bump/specular maps provide great detail even up close.
