The Kentia Palm, also known as the Howea forsteriana, was a popular houseplant in Europe and the United States during Victorian times.
The seeds were imported from its native Australia, namely Lord Howe Island, and became an avidly collected parlour palm from the 1870s and onwards.
The Kentia Palm is very hardy and can withstand low light conditions and poor soil.
