Preset

Presets are a set of saved values and/or calculations that can be re-applied to an element at a later time. Daz Studio includes ready-made presets and can create and save custom-made presets. Almost any value can be saved out and used later, with the most common as pose and material presets. When creating a scene, adding presets can make the process simpler and faster. For example, after transforming the fingers of a hand, save it as a pose preset, and apply it to a new figure later. Instead of manually transforming a figure's hand again, the pose preset will apply the saved transforms automatically to the specific saved values.

Preset Compatibility

When creating a preset, an artist assigns it “compatibilities” that specify what the preset is designed to work with. In many cases a pose preset may work with many different characters but may not work perfectly with figures/characters it is not compatible with. For example, if a preset is assigned Genesis 8 figure compatibility, it may not fully work with a Genesis 9 figure.
