Additional Details

  • The normal configuration of feathers is divided amongst three feather wearables.
  • For three colors, each feather wearable is set to one color. This makes it easy to tweak coloring; maybe you want the whites to be more muted or the blacks to be a little bright in a dark scene.
  • With fewer colors, the three layers separate out the different surfaces.
    • For example, with the crow, layer A is set so only the Head is on, B is for Arms and Body, and C is for Legs. You can easily change this as necessary.
    • For example, if your crow is wearing pants and you don't need legs, you could hide or remove layer C. Visibility presets can aid in this.
  • Note that if you change colors while in Iray view mode, the colors may not update properly in the viewport: change to a different mode and then back, and it will refresh properly.
  • Any layer that has all surfaces hidden or at 0 density will revert to showing guidehairs. A layer with nothing to generate should be hidden or deleted.
  • For a more 'hairy' look, reduce Clumpiness on the feather layer.
  • For a more proper avian look to the face, try setting Pose Controls/Eyes Crossed to a negative value. This angles the eyes outward.
  • Flatten Feathers on the feather layers is usually set to 75%. For a more fluffed look, set at lower values.
