Additional Details

  • A few things I thought you might want to know:
    • The real ink items in this package are original and were scanned (at 600-2400 dpi) or photographed by 3DProclivity. Each image was then reduced (if necessary, NOT enlarged) and optimized to yield the best results possible in Photoshop CS5. Most brushes (PNGs) are thus over 2000 px in size and only a handful are smaller than 1500 px. The textures and stain effects of a variety of inks have been preserved in case you want or need them. (For example, some old ink I had appears quite grainy.) To eliminate some or all of the detail (and just use the shape) of the brush, adjust the exposure rates or brightness and contrast values. A few of the presets I used have been included as a bonus. The ink stain preset works best to preserve the texture on ink scans while the India ink strong preset works best to eliminate the detail of heavily textured brushes.
    • All of the digital ink items are also original. Each was created on a brush-ready pallet (2500px X2500px, 300 dpi). The Digital Ink in Water items were slightly blurred to decrease the unnatural appearance of the computer-generated lines in the final product. They should probably be blurred more if you want to use them for smoke and fire. (NOTE: There are only two brushes of real ink in water due to the difficulty I had photographing such fluids without the proper equipment. Maybe next time. ;)
    • Finally, the program I used to convert the brushes to transparent PNGs was a free utility called ABRMate. It worked very well but I noticed it changed the order of the brushes. Such file conversion can also be accomplished by using CS5's built-in script to export layers to files. Including the PNGs takes extra time and doubles the package size, but the increased compatibility is worth the effort and size drawback imho.
  • If you have ideas for more brushes or are interested in super-high resolution photo packages/textures (1200-2400 dpi), let me know at 3DProclivity@gmail.com or message me through the DAZ Forums.
