Additional Details

  • Universal Notes:
    • Desdemona's textures use the Genesis 2 Female Base UV mapping. DAZ Studio will automatically select the appropriate mapping when textures are applied. In Poser, when initially loading your figure, choose the Genesis 2 Female Base model from your DAZ People folder to ensure the proper UV mapping is used for the figure.
    • Not all options will show in the preview when applied. This is true of both Poser and DAZ Studio. A spot, area, or test render will show the feature properly and let you know how it will appear in both applications. In Poser, you can click on the material room tab, and select the relevant object (Genesis 2 Female) and the material from the material drop-down menu to see the material preview. This will force an update of the screen preview, but may not show all effects you have applied.
    • A randomly chosen makeup color has been used to demonstrate the various effects included in the package. This is often whatever color best shows the effect so you can have a good idea of what the effect is actually doing. These effects are partial MAT files or python scripts intended to apply to any of the makeup choices or to the default skin; while the colors of the effect may vary based on the makeup choice, the effect is designed to apply to all of the options included in the package.
    • 'Intensity' effects blend the default skin with the makeup textures to control the appearance of the makeup intensity in the render. Using the intensity effects on the default skin will mix the default skin with the default skin, which will result in no visible effect.
  • DAZ Studio Notes:
    • The files in this pack include traditional material presets, partial material presets, and layered image editor (LIE) files. These may or may not be labeled on the thumbnail itself. These files behave in different ways from one another, so please be advised that various combinations of them may create unpredictable results. Some may be combined, and some may combine less favorably.
    • Tattoo and Liner options marked 'Black' are created with the layered image editor (LIE). These options may also work with other characters you own, provided they use the Genesis 2 Female UV mapping.
    • Two skin tone choices are included in this package: Natural and Pale. The makeup files are created based on the default (Natural) skin tone. If you change the skin tone and then apply one of the makeup or tattoo choices, it will result in the appearance of seams. To avoid this, apply skin tone choice last, or reapply the skin tone partial material preset after changing your other options.
    • The material presets for this product use the Age of Armor Subsurface Scattering Shader. This is included with DAZ Studio 4.6, and is available for free at DAZ3D. You may need to alter the shading rate in the surface tab as described in the tutorial files for the shader if artifacts appear while rendering. You can find these in your Read Me folder in your content library.
  • Poser Notes:
    • This set relies heavily on python scripting. Very few of the included options are traditional MAT files. This allows you to make changes to one part of the material shader without overwriting the others you have previously selected.
    • Many options include a choice marked 'Default' or 'OFF'. If you wish to reset a certain option you have applied, please apply that script to remove the effect. Applying a new makeup option will not overwrite these settings, though reapplying the default setup MAT file will do so. The setup MAT file creates the framework on which all of the other effects rely.
    • You only need to apply the effects you want to apply. You do not need to apply eyeliner or specular effects if you don't want to use them, so don't become intimidated by the possible list of options.
    • If using scripts not included here that rely on the Advanced Shaders plugin system from other products, you may experience some conflicts with the scripts in this package. The Advanced Shaders scripts will apply as normal, but if you wish to remove them or otherwise change other options, you will need to reapply the default MAT and start over as you would with any other character set.
    • Be sure to see the universal notes; many options will not show in the preview window. While the script includes instructions for the shader tree to update the appearance of the preview, at the time of this writing this does not often reliably occur. If you want to double check whether or not your choices have applied, please click on the material tab and navigate to the material in question to see the material preview. This will often also force the preview window to update some visible effects. An area/spot render will show you the effects if needed for specific details that would not normally show in the preview window.
    • The default materials for the character include reflection on the skin and eyes, which can increase render time. If you wish to turn reflection off on the skin for faster rendering, a script is provided to do this quickly and easily.
