Product Information

  • Required Products: None

This is a full 360-degree undersea environment complete with HDRIs, reflective water prop, sand floor that fades into the distance, a rockscape with grouped moveable rocks and sand foundation, a kelp plant, caustic wave gel with spotlight, and a haze sphere to create ocean rays and increase depth in all directions.

By adjusting the height of the props, using the HDRIs (of which there are four), you may achieve renders at ocean depths from I shallow 3 feet to a mile into the deep dark blue.

Hiding or deleting the sand prop will reveal the Sandy floor of the hdri or, if using one of the other render settings, the scene will fade down into a very dark blue.

The rockscape and kelp plant come with individual materials to achieve different looks. Four options for rock and kelp and five options for the sand are available. Load individual props for use in your other water scenes; a swimming pool, fountain, bathtub, lake, or shoreline.

The caustic wave spotlight gel is tiled so you can change the size of the pattern it projects.

You have control over the depth haze in the water with four presets. Quickly go from dark and murky to Crystal Clear and tropical.

Additional Details

  • The water gobo
    • To add a caustic light effect, we've included a spotlight with a parented water gobo prop. This prop loads with a pre-applied alpha mask to create the caustic light effects in your scene.
    • You can, of course, reposition the spotlight, alter the light strength and even scale the size of the caustic light effect.
    • To do this, select the water gobo prop and look for the “Horizontal Tiles” and “Vertical Tiles” parameters. A higher number in both parameters result in a finer and smaller pattern, a lower number will create a more coarse effect.
  • The Haze
    • All underwater scenes load with a pre-applied haze sphere. This controls the slight underwater fog which mimics the cloudiness underwater, caused by tiny suspended particles.
    • You can control the density of this haze with the included materials.
    • Please note that including the haze in your renders will increase your render times.
  • The Rocks and Kelp
    • This product contains a full rockscape figure, complete with several groups of rocks and a sand foundation.
    • The rocks can be moved or hidden individually, so you can easily customize the set.
    • The kelp figure can be used as a single plant or as a group. In the provided scene subset “Aguja w Rocks Environment & Kelp” you will find a group of instanced kelp plants. Movements, changes, etc done to the top root plant will be reflected to the slaved instances of the kelp.
    • Please note, that the kelp is relatively “heavy” in terms of polygon load. It may slow down your viewport operations when navigating the scene. In that case we recommend that you hide the kelp, position your camera, and then unhide it again.
  • The Materials and Shaders
    • The Rockscape comes with four different partial rock materials, five sand materials and two specialized “wet” materials and shaders for rocks and sand.
    • The rock materials can be easily applied over each loaded rock texture to enhance glossiness and reflectivity. The same applies to the sand shader. It can be applied to both the ripples sand material and the simpler plain sand materials.
  • “Low Tide”
    • To add some variety, we have also included a Low Tide scene with a very low water level, wet sand, and rocks.
    • You can combine this scene with any HDRI illumination of your choosing.
