Product Information

  • Required Products: None

Add more realism and detail to your scene with the clutter of electrical cords, metal tubing, vines, and ropes. This set contains two kinds of vines: the leafy western ivy and the fat leafless eastern variety. There are ropes of six lengths that can be thickened and textured as smaller vines, ropes, metal tubing, plastic tubing, or LED glow tubes. They have morphs to thicken them, and every item in the set has bones and pose controls for ease of posing in your scene before sim. The set also includes some room-sized presets to get you started on covering the floors or objects of your scene.

Additional Details

  • Best Practice:
  • Create the rest of your scene first, including any dForce sims of clothing and hair, so that they can use their own recommended sim settings. Freeze finished sims in the Parameters/Simulation options.
  • Load the first rope, vine, or room array you want to sim. Arrange it so that nothing clips with your scene objects before you simulate. You can also pose these objects with their bones from the Scene Tab, or with their Pose Controls from the Parameters tab, and it is recommended that you do so - the further things are from their final destination, the longer simulation takes.
  • Go to the Materials folder and click on the “Recommended Simulation Settings” preset.
  • Simulate.
  • Freeze the simulation using the Simulation option in Parameters tab.
  • Now repeat for any and all further tubes and ropes and vines you wish to have in your scene. There may be situations where you need to sim multiples at once so that they lie just right, just be aware that this is going to be harder on your hardware and increases the probability of explosions or crashing.
  • Often the best practice with the leafy vines is to pose them reasonably close to their destination and only sim them to 10% or so. A few leaves will shed to increase naturalism.
  • Other Notes:
  • Normally you probably don't need the things in the dForce Add-Ons and Bases folders, but they're there in case you want to try any of these without their Add-Ons for stiffening (the Add-Ons do make things notably stiffer).
  • The included simulation preset assumes your objects are relatively close to the floor. The higher off the floor your vines or ropes or tubes are, the higher you need to turn up the Stabilization Time in your Simulation tab settings.
