It comes with an ornate circlet and a huge collection of textures - including Shox-Design's texture collection with 100 choices for the full hair, individual hair parts or independent shaders for every material zone. The included circlet styles match the metal options of the Alascanus Outfit product. Additional Details

  • Please be aware, that simulation times will be extended when you are using the extra top and back strands or both pieces together with the main base hair.
  • General Morph Types for the hair
    • All the hair pieces load with a selection of morphs and control dials designed to help you with adjusting and posing the individual pieces. The morph categories are as follows:
      • - Styles: contains shaping and draping morphs.
      • The controls of the hair pieces
        • The Alascanus hair pieces load with a number of control dials which will make posing easier.
        • For example, you can bend, twist or move the long back parts, extra top and back parts. The same applies to the back of the two bang types.
  • Using dForce on the hair
    • If you want to set up a dForce simulation, please take the following steps:
      • 1 - Load Genesis 8 Male into your scene.
      • 2 - Load all the desired hair pieces to be fitted to your Genesis figure.
      • 3 - Move the hair out of the way so it does not collide with or sticks inside either Genesis or clothing he is wearing. You can either use the built in Style and Adjustment morphs to do this or move the hair segments themselves.
      • 4 - Set up an animation with 41 frames.
      • 5 - In frame 1, set a keyframe (click on the little key icon with the plus symbol inside, to the far right end of the bottom icon bar) with Genesis in default pose and your freshly loaded dForce hair.
      • 6 - Go to frame 15, select a pose of your liking. Add a new keyframe in pose 15.
      • 7 - Go to the Simulation tab inside DAZ Studio and change the following default settings: Start Bones from Memorized Pose - OFF, Frames To Simulate: Animated (Use Timeline Play Range), Collision Mesh Resolution: Viewport
      • 8 - Hit the “Simulate” Button!
    • If you experience with simulating all several parts at once, try freezing one of the pieces and then run the simulation piece by piece.
  • Matching and mixing the different hair parts
    • The Alascanus hair comes with two extra parts for the base hair. One is the extra top strands, and the other the extra back strands. You can add them to give the hair more thickness.
    • An interesting side effect is, that these extra strands create small waves or curls in the main hair through the enhanced friction of the extra strands.
    • If you want to change the textures on the extra top and back hair strands, please use the material presets for the full base hair.
    • If you just want to make the hair appear thicker without working with the extra strands, you can also raise the density of the strands with the different transparency settings in the “Utlities” folder.
    • Bangs and material zones
      • The bangs come in two types: one short and one long. Both have an extra material zones for left and right highlights. You can apply different textures to these two zones to get some interesting mix & match texture looks.
  • Product works relatively well as conforming and dForce
  • Using more than 30 frames (at least 45) will help many simulations
  • In many poses, current frame and animation, simulating with Start Bones from Memorized Pose can be used
  • Some shapes may work with auto follow
  • Product will not load or work correctly without the figure in the scene
  • Product is made to work with smoothing on
  • Materials have been optimized for Iray and may not look the same in 3Delight
  • Some poses may cause collision so tweaking the pose or the figure's limbs may be necessary
  • When changing poses, do not forget to use the Clear Animation/Clear Figure Pose in the Parameter tab under Genesis 8 Male before adding another pose
  • Use of too many adjustment dials at once may cause distortion
  • Clear simulation from a scene before using a new pose and simulation
  • Some adjustment dials may be set higher. Please be aware that using them to limits may cause distortion
