Merchant Resource Lips 1 for Genesis 8 Female are lips from six different models for you to use in your character creations with photo-realistic textures customized for Iray and helpful starter material presets.

The textures have Diffuse, Bump, Specular and Normal maps, with a custom lip makeup mask for each as well. All maps are in uncompressed .tif and are placed and sized for a 4096 resolution G8F head texture map.

Each one has been named for the source model they were taken from to make matching skin photos easier, although you could easily merge them with different photos as well or use Bump and Normal only when making character textures from cross-polarized photo sets (that lack any height detail).

There are 6 different sample material presets per texture to apply the maps and masks for you and give a starting point for you to achieve your own colors and effects. Optimized for Iray, I have done my best to get smooth looking yet detailed lips with all the lip structures placed where they ought to be. There are lips for both dark (04 and 05) and fair skin tones (01, 02, 03, 06).

You can use and build upon the material presets. As a merchant resource, you will need to merge these into your skin texture and blend the outer lip edge, mainly the upper one and lower lip corners to your map. You may find the last two makeup masks helpful in doing that.

Promo images 1-6 are all Iray rendered results on unmorphed Genesis 8 Female, the last 3 use various morphs.

Additional Details

  • All material presets are for the Lip material only. As a merchant resource, you will need to merge these into your skin texture and blend the outer lip edge, mainly the upper one and lower lip corners. These lips go all the way to the edge of the lip material zone but most of the time you will want your upper lip line to come in a little bit from there (one or two rows on the UV template). If you want to make the lip line larger you can, all the way to the outer edge of the zone. The masks have the upper lip edge at the two rows spot and you can use the mask HS_G8F_MRlips_1M to merge your skin texture using a paint program or to show you where the exact edge of skin meets lips most often would be. HS_G8F_MRlips_2M has a slightly more full outer line.
  • The material examples, these will all apply fairly glossy:
    • Lip A will be the basic diffuse color with the lighter “scatter only” base color setting and a gloss.
    • Lip B will be the basic diffuse color with the darker “scatter and transmit” base color setting, it is good for darker skins.
    • Lip C is one sample color and texture of the lipstick, you can change the hue by the Diffuse Color Overlay and the Top Coat color and save a new file to make others.
    • Lip D a frosted example that brings in Metallic Flakes color uses Scatter and Transmit in the base color setting. You can also change hues in Diffuse Overlay, Top Coat and/or Metallic Flakes colors.
    • Lip E a lighter frosted gloss example using Scatter Only base color effect.
    • Lip F A satin finish lipstick with a gold highlight.
  • HS G8F MR1 Lips Matte- Apply to any lip, last if you want it matte instead. Generally looks best on the A or B options, for a natural look.
  • From these examples you can make most any lip color you would want easy makeup options.
  • You will want to make most of these settings, such as Base color Effect, Translucency Color, and Weight match your skin mats to avoid the look of seams or vice versa.
  • There are 6 different lips texture photo sources. Holly and Tonya are darker skin tones. Tracey, Cayla, Linda, and Jindriska are fair. The lips are named for the Sk3d Levius models that were used, to make it easy for you to match up the skin tones. Cayla Lip is actually a mix of a few textures Cayla Lyons being one of them, the other 5 are exactly the models named without any hue adjustment so matching should be easy. There is painting on the textures in order to make the lips look right with Iray's idiosyncrasies, the main one being that light bit on the diffuse map from highlights turn into ugly lumps when rendered. I have done my best to get a smooth look with these while still keeping the lip texture visible.
  • You also have Normal, Bump and Specular maps optimized for Iray and makeup masks custom for each of the lips. The masks HS_G8F_MRLips_1M.tif and HS_G8F_MRLips_2M.tif are good for lipsticks where you want to wash out the texture of the lines in the lip, they are also good for blending your skin texture to the lip, use them as a layer and selection tools to get a matching selection (in my program that is select, expand selection and then feather selection). The outer edge of the two masks is slightly different, the second one would give you a fuller lip.
  • For commercial use, it is ok to use or modify the maps or material presets, renaming them is also ok. You are encouraged to incorporate them into your texture map and make changes to them. Please do not include more than one named texture map set per character (example use Tonya or Holly but not both in one character), use of any number of the example material presets is fine. Please do not include them in any other merchant resource collection or any freebies. You do not need to credit me though it's always appreciated. Thank you for your support.
