With Shader Rotator, stop being frustrated when the perfect shaders you need for your scene apply in the wrong direction on your objects! Shader Rotator solves this issue in a single click.

On all your selected surfaces, Shader Rotator can rotate all the image maps used by your shaders by 90, 180, or 270 degrees. The script will create new images, rotated versions of the initial images, and of course, it will automatically replace the initial image maps on your selected surfaces with the new rotated ones.

The new rotated images are saved under the folder of your choice or using the runtime sub-folders hierarchy of the initial image. In order to be more efficient, the name of these new images will end with the rotation angle used. You can also choose between different image formats (.jpg, .png, or as the initial image) for your new images. Once the rotation is done, simply render or save your new rotated shader for later use.

Additional Details

  • This shader rotation is based on maps rotations, this is why procedural shaders will not work with it, but it will work with any existing “map based” shader, as long as the image maps are squared (width must equal height) images, which is the case of almost all shaders (using image maps and more particularly squared image maps).
  • The angles are limited to 90, 180, and 270 degrees because they are based on the principle of a LIE rotation of images, which allow only these angles.
  • Some image formats (such as .tga) cannot be processed so far, but all the usual formats (.jpg, .png,. tif) will perfectly work. If a way is found so that such files (tga) can be processed, the product will be updated.
