The Desert Diorama for Iray does what it says on the box! It's a fast desert ground plane ( which can be tiled to make it much bigger). It has pebbles and a volumetric water cube to create a watering hole in the center of the terrain and a set of palms, dry grass, and reeds, all of which are suitable for instancing!
And to make things even easier and faster, this great set comes with 3 full presets of the ground plane, plants, stones (and water), which will load pre-scattered and instantly set up a vignette full of desert goodness!
Not only that, but there are partial presets that can be loaded onto and parented to the ground plane for scattered palm trees, denser palm trees, grass scatter, and rocks and pebbles scattered over the landscape's surface.
Added to these presets are 2 dead acacia tree models with high detail for perching, lounging in, and sitting under that can be placed wherever you want!
The shader used on the ground plane is layered and creates a highly detailed sand dune effect while enabling the actual object it's applied to be fairly low polygon, you can use subdivision to add extra detail.
All of the shaders used in the rocks, landscape, and water (plus the dead tree bark) are included in the bundle so you can blend added assets seamlessly into the scene.
Should you want a larger terrain, you can tile the various preset scene subsets or instance the ground plane and add grass and palm subsets over the instances manually.
All of the above makes for a very handy and quick desert set where you can add your favorite characters, animals, buildings, and props to give them an arid home or a place around a waterhole to take a drink. Get the Desert Diorama for Iray today!
