Notes -

  • 1-ASSEMBLING SCENES Assembling scenes in Kelly Lodge can be done in two ways:
    • By loading the rooms and props you want one by one and repositionning them
    • By using the included presets When loading the rooms and props one by one, the rooms will automatically snap to their positions. The props however will load at the center of the scene. The floor level in Kelly Lodge is at y=0.12, so remember to translate all the props that need to rest on the floor by this amount.

The additionnal rooms (hallway, kitchen and stairs) don't necessarily need to be loaded. To save memory, only load the rooms that will be visible in your render. To speed up the assembly of your scenes, some presets are included as well. The presets labeled !KellyLodge1 and !KellyLodge2 (found in Props/KellyLodgePresets) will load fully assembled scenes: rooms and props. The other presets will only load preassembled props. All these props are parented to the main prop which gives its name to the preset. When repositionning these presets make sure to select the main prop and reposition it. All the parented props will follow.

  • 2-LIGHTING SCENES I strongly recommend using the included light preset (In Lights/KellyLodge) This preset is designed to evenly light the rooms, provide a strong sunshine light, and a soft inside light. This preset is made of 6 “ambiant lights” labeled Amb1-6, a light labeled “Inside Light” and a light labeled “Outside Light”. You can adjust the overall brightness of your scenes by increasing or decreasing the intensity of the “Ambiant Lights”. However, avoid repositionning these lights as it will result in uneven lighting of your scenes. Inside and outside lights can be moved and adjusted at will.
  • 3-SETTING UP THE CAMERA Because this is a closed set, unless you adjust you camera focal, you will run into walls trying to back up to get a wider view. To correct for this, select your main camera, and in the “Parameters” tab select a Focal value lower than 30mm (25 to 30mm seems to give the best results) Should you need to get a broader view, without the distortion caused by lowering your camera focal, each of Kelly Lodge's wall can be hidden (the ceiling as well). Just select the wall of your choice and in the “Properties” tab uncheck “visible”. Remember to adjust your lighting if you set a wall to invisible as the outside light will now shine unobstructed into the room.
  • 4-DAZ|STUDIO USERS The presets labeled KellyLodge1 and KellyLodge2 (in Content/Props/KellyLodgePresets) will load the same complete preassembled scenes as the Poser version. These presets already have DAZ|Studio materials applied. Individual DAZ|Studio material files for each props can be found in the Content/Props/KellyLodgeMAT folder Happy rendering!
