Main Menu Bar

Main Menu Bar

Often shortened to Main Menu, the Main Menu Bar consists of several menu items or words that cause a Menu containing various functions and commands, or Actions, relating to that word to be displayed when the item is activated.

On a computer running the Windows operating system, the Main Menu Bar is typically anchored to the top edge of the Main Window of the application. On a computer running the Mac OSX operating system, the Main Menu Bar is integrated into the system-wide Menu Bar and is anchored to the top edge of the Desktop/Screen when that application is active.

To activate a menu item, position the cursor over an item, and click on it. Alternatively press [Alt] to switch the keyboard shortcuts to navigate the various menus. The arrow keys move from item to item, while [Enter] selects an item.

In some cases, menu items include their own keyboard shortcuts, such as pressing [Alt] and a corresponding keyboard letter, to bypass the Main Menu Bar. For example, select Ctrl/Cmd + R to start a scene render.
