Product Information

Although a rolling stone gathers no moss, in this case you now have the power to cover your stones, paving, hard standing, and all sorts of other small objects in high detailed moss!

With the power of instancing plugins such as Ultracsatter you can choose an object, choose a very low poly moss plant from this bundle and apply huge numbers of instances with ease.

This set of plants, maps and scene subsets is intended for use close to the camera on single objects or small areas of your scene.

The power of instancing, coupled with these incredibly low poly models (moss it tiny, thus the low poly count on each plant) most smaller objects can now be covered with a moss coating with texture and depth, which can be caried from a light dusting to a heavy green layer of tiny leaves, with all the texture and mossy velvety goodness you want. Remember when using instances that the outcome is very much dependent on how you set up the distribution, scale and orientation of the instances - for flat objects just make sure there is variation in the y rotation and scale , for 3d objects select the option to use the normal maps to influence the distribution (baring in mind that this is dependent upon how the object was mapped and results will vary according to this mapping) The larger the object the sparser your moss is likely to be, the smaller the object the thicker you can grow it. You can also play with height distribution and all sorts of other settings too.

If you are not comfortable with using instancing then we have you covered too:

Also included in this set, and where its power to instantly transform a flat surface such as a slab of concrete, asphalt or soil really comes in to its own is with the selection of premade scene subsets included, there are subsets representing cracks or crazy paving which grow the moss in that pattern, a splat of moss perfect for placing at the base of a small tree or shrub, and also individual paving cracks which can be grouped to simulate the mossy cracks found between paving stones. Bare in mind that though the moss plants are low poly, the cracks and splats use a huge number of instances!

Top tip if you wish to add your own patterns to a larger surface near to the camera, then add a plane, scatter your moss on the plane in your desired effect, and make the plane invisible in the surfaces settings allowing you to move the scatter and scale according to your needs.

Also included are a set of black and white distribution maps which can be used in Ultrascatter to influence where your moss grows in the scatter.
