Product Information

The LowPi Low Poly character is ready to fight! Create anything from small squads of knights to giant medieval or fantasy armies. All assets follow the low poly philosophy, meaning you can have dozens of figures in your scenes without dragging your system to a standstill, and by using instances you can have many more!

This is a huge expansion set for the Lowpi Figure Base and Lowpi Crowd Creator. You must have both of these products for this to work fully. It also contains presets for use with the new Formations scripts from Code66 so you can generate regular squares, a phalanx of spearmen, charging groups or lines of bowmen.

There is a choice of full armour, half armour, colorful surcoats, tabards and jerkins to dress your soldiers in with an array of accessories such as boots, gauntlets and belts. Of course these are all available in a wide range of colors and patterns, adding huge variety to your generated groups.

Add to that a choice of weapons from a long sword, battle axes and maces, two-handed pole weapons and bow and arrow.

Presets are provided with and without shields, and there is a huge variety of presets for shield designs and tunics with or without emblems.

There are a massive variety of poses, divided into fighting and “at ease” poses, and of course you can manually create individual figures as well as generating large crowds. A range of different crowd presets are included, most include tags which can be turned on or off to vary the look of the generated crowds or formations even more. And if you have the Pro Scripts product, you can mix and match between this set and any other sets you have, so you can create drinking soldiers or sword-fighting skeletons!

Use this Medieval Army set to generate background characters for your higher resolution main figures, or produce amazing battle scenes for medieval or fantasy projects!

Additional Details

  • The prop Axe-Mace uses different materials to switch between two battle axes and two mace types, effectively turning on and off various parts. This is also true for the Pole Weapon which contains Spear, Pike, Halberd and Billhook, again switchable by using materials. The Shield contains four different shapes, again switchable by applying different materials. There are 52 presets to cover most situations, but if you want to customise it, you can individually select shield shape, design and colors. This is also true for the Tabard, there are a large number of presets but you can individually select colors, sleeves, emblems and emblem colors.
  • The Under-Armour should always be applied to provide the base for the clothing or armour, there are presets to make it look like chain mail, plate armour or leather in different colors. Helmets of many types are included and these can be loaded with or without the chain mail hood.
  • The Crowd Sets include many tags which allow customisation of the generated results. The clothing group includes Knights (for full armour), Half-Armour, Soldiers in Surcoats and Men-at-arms. You need to ensure that at least one from this group is selected or there will not be any figures to generate. This is also true of the weapons group which contains Sword, Pole Weapon, Axe-Mace and Bow and Arrow. Some of the Sets have Shield and No-Shield tags – having both selected produces a mix of figures with and without shields, select only Shield to have all figures having shields, or select only No-Shield to have all figures without shields. Again, deselecting both will leave no figures to generate! There are also tags for Fighting and At Ease in some Sets, so you can have a mix or one or the other.
  • While most of the time you will want to generate only male figures, I have left women, unisex and child enabled so that if you want to generate an Amazon army or some smaller people, that can be done. Just remember to deselect all but the Male figures for normal crowd generation.
  • The Sets that I have included mostly maximise the variety of figures and this is usually what is required. However particularly with armies, you may want to limit options so that all soldiers are wearing the same, or use the same shield designs, etc. This can be done using the Pro scripts add on and this is how I did the various Dark Army presets as an example.
  • It is recommended not to use randomization of the Height and Mass morphs for the two-handed pole poses as these can move the hands so that the left hand is away from the pole weapon.
  • I have included a variety of presets for use with the new Formations add-on that will be released together with this set, so you have click and render options available for easy formations generation. You can of course customize these as much as you like to select your own choices for the formations and the figures that populate it.
  • I hope you enjoy using this set as much as I have making it!
