V3D Extract and Append: Cameras, Lights, Environment Settings, and More is a workflow tool designed to recover and reuse scene setup elements directly from saved DAZ Studio Scene and Scene Subset files in your current working scene.
Instead of reopening another saved scene just to recover a camera, a lighting setup, emissive surfaces (such as ghost lights or similar), environment settings (Environment Options Node), or tone mapping settings, this product lets you extract and reuse only the compatible scene elements you actually want to bring back into your current scene.
Depending on the script you launch, this product lets you recover and append cameras, scene lights, emissive surfaces (such as ghost lights or similar), environment settings, or tone mapping settings from compatible saved Scene and Scene Subset files. Cameras, scene lights, and emissive surfaces are appended to the current scene, while Tone Mapper Options and Environment Options are reloaded from the selected file and replace the current ones in the scene. For emissive extraction, only Iray Uber emissive surfaces are supported. Other emissive shader systems are not included in this workflow.
This product focuses on reusable scene setup elements rather than geometry-based character or prop extraction. It is made to append cameras, scene lights, and emissive figures or props, and to reload saved environment and tone mapping settings from larger saved scenes or subsets.
The scripts analyze one or more compatible Scene or Scene Subset files, list the compatible source items they find, and let you decide exactly what to load. Depending on the extractor you use, compatible items may include camera nodes, scene light nodes, emissive figures or props with supported Iray Uber emissive surfaces, an Environment Options node, or a Tone Mapper Options node.
Two loading modes are available for cameras, scene lights, and emissive surfaces. In fast mode, the script reloads only the selected asset itself, with the option to include its children as well. In this case, the final placement will match the original one as long as the asset was not parented to another transformed item in the source scene. When Skip Parent is left unchecked, the script also temporarily reloads the full hierarchy needed to guarantee that the imported asset is restored in its exact original position and orientation. This is especially useful for parented cameras, lights, or emissive setups that depend on the transform of another object in the source scene.
A specific option is also available in the Scene Lights extractor to temporarily hide the lights already present in the scene before the new ones are loaded.
For Environment and Tone Mapper extraction, the corresponding Environment Options node or Tone Mapper Options node must already exist in the source DUF file. If the node is not present in the original saved scene or subset, there is nothing to reload for that extractor.
For best results, launch the product from a toolbar button or custom action. You can then work from files selected in Content Library or Smart Content or manually browse to the Scene or Scene Subset files you want to use. Non-compatible files, such as Pose Presets or Render Presets, are automatically filtered out, so you can stay focused on usable scene content.
The tool does not create new assets in your library and does not rebuild content on disk. It reads existing DUF scene data, generates temporary filtered data for the selected content when needed, and loads that content into your current scene. Your original files remain unchanged.
Because the final step is still a normal DAZ Studio load process, standard DAZ Studio behavior may still apply depending on the selected content, including missing asset dialogs, missing texture prompts, or other load-time notices. In DAZ Studio 6, Smart Content file selection is supported through the Files section, while the Product section currently has selection limitations.
V3D Extract and Append: Cameras, Lights, Environment Settings, and More turns older saved scenes and subsets into practical, reusable sources for your current work. Intuitive, easy to use, and workflow-efficient, it helps you recover the cameras, lights, emissive setups, environment settings, and tone mapping settings you want, so you can stay focused on building and lighting your scene.
