VDB Wizard is a standalone Windows application that brings powerful OpenVDB volumetric authoring directly into your Daz Studio workflow. Designed for artists of every experience level, it allows you to create custom fog, smoke, fire, sparkles, atmospheric effects, and more that conform naturally to your scenes and can be injected into Daz Studio with a single click.

Unlike traditional VDB assets that rely on large static volumes, VDB Wizard generates lightweight, scene-aware effects that are tailored to your geometry and camera. Volumes can conform to landscapes, props, and characters, while camera-aware optimization ensures that only the visible portions of an effect are exported, reducing file sizes and improving rendering efficiency.

Every generator is fully interactive, allowing you to adjust parameters such as noise, turbulence, voxel size, density, emission, surface binding, shape, and more using an intuitive slider-based interface. Whether you are creating subtle morning mist, rolling fog banks, magical energy, glowing particles, smoke, or dramatic volumetric lighting, every preset remains fully editable and can be customized to suit your scene.

VDB Wizard is designed for a wide range of artists. Create completely original volumetric effects from scratch, customize preset collections, or author content for future projects. Every effect can be saved as your own reusable preset, making it easy to build a personal library of atmospheric assets.

Optimized OpenVDB export minimizes storage requirements by using sparse voxel grids, camera frustum culling, geometry-aware generation, occlusion-aware export, and efficient half-float density storage where appropriate. The result is compact VDB files that load quickly and render efficiently in Iray while maintaining excellent visual quality.

Included with VDB Wizard are the standalone application, Daz Studio launcher script, toolbar icons, comprehensive user documentation in HTML, PDF, DOCX, and TXT formats, along with tutorial resources to help you get started.

Installation is simple. Launch VDB Wizard from Daz Studio, import your scene geometry and camera if needed, create or customize your volumetric effects, then inject them directly back into your scene with a single click for rendering in Iray.
